Connect App Store Server Notifications (iOS) or Google Play Real-Time Developer Notifications (Android). Pushwoosh then posts a PW_Subscription* event on the user profile whenever a subscription changes:
| Event | Fires when |
|---|---|
PW_SubscriptionStart |
First purchase |
PW_SubscriptionRenew |
Auto-renewal for a new period |
PW_SubscriptionCancel |
Auto-renewal turned off (still active until it expires) |
PW_SubscriptionResume |
User restarts the subscription before it lapses |
PW_SubscriptionBillingIssue |
A renewal payment fails |
PW_SubscriptionRecovered |
A failed renewal goes through |
PW_SubscriptionExpired |
The subscription has fully lapsed |
PW_SubscriptionRefund |
Refund or revoked access |
Each event carries productID and expiresAt.
Setup needs your developers:
- iOS: set the device's Pushwoosh HWID as
appAccountTokenat purchase, and in App Store Connect set the Version 2 server URLs tohttps://appstore-notifications.pushwoosh.com/appstore/YOUR_APPLICATION_CODE/. - Android: pass
getSubscriptionAccountId()from the Pushwoosh SDK tosetObfuscatedAccountId(), set the RTDN topic in Play Console, and invite the Pushwoosh service account.
Without the token or account ID, the notification arrives but no event is posted. On Android, it can't be added later for existing subscriptions.
Then create a journey with a trigger-based entry on the event, for example PW_SubscriptionCancel for win-back.
