Question:
If we modify or delete the segment (filter) which is applied to an already scheduled push, what will be the result?
Answer:
- A scheduled message stores a reference to the segment, not a copy of its conditions. The recipient list is resolved when the message is actually sent, so if you edit the segment's conditions in the meantime, the push goes out with the new conditions.
- If you delete the segment, messages scheduled to it are cancelled, and customer journeys using it are paused. The Control Panel shows what will be affected and asks you to tick Confirm that deleting will affect related campaigns before the deletion goes through.
So if you need the originally planned audience, do not edit the live segment — clone it, change the copy, and point a new message at the copy. If you only need to stop the send, cancel the scheduled message itself instead of deleting the segment.
