Question:
When I try to invite a user I get the error "This user has already been invited." I deleted the invite and still cannot re-invite this user. Why?
Answer:
This error is an anti-abuse guard. Pushwoosh refuses to create a new invite for an email address when any of the following is true:
- a user with that email is already a member of your account - no invite is needed, the person can simply log in;
- there is already a pending invite with status Sent for that email in your account - use Re-send on the existing invite instead of creating a new one;
- an invite for that email was created and then revoked - revoking an invite does not free the address up, so sending and deleting an invite repeatedly will not work around the check.
What to do:
- Open My Account → Users and groups. The Users tab lists everyone with access; the invitations you have sent appear in the Invites list with the recipient's email, invite date and status (Sent or Accepted).
- If a Sent invite is there, click Re-send rather than creating a new one, and ask the recipient to check their spam folder. Re-send becomes available an hour after the previous send.
- If the address already belongs to a user of your account, change that user's role on the Users tab instead of inviting them again.
- If neither applies - typically because the invite was revoked earlier - contact help@pushwoosh.com with the account ID and the email address; support can clear the blocked invite record.
