If your push notification is only relevant for a limited time (for example, a one- or two-day offer), set its Time to live (TTL). TTL is the maximum period during which Pushwoosh and the push services keep trying to deliver the message to a device that is offline. If the device doesn't come back online before the TTL expires, the notification is not delivered.
Set Time to live in the Control Panel
One-time push
- Go to Campaigns → One-time messages and create a push notification.
- In the scheduling step, open Sending options and find Time to live.
- Choose a preset period (from 1 hour to 3 weeks), or select Custom range and enter the number of hours, days, or weeks (up to 4 weeks).
The countdown starts when Pushwoosh attempts to deliver the push, not when you create or schedule it. See Set time to live for push delivery.
Customer Journey
In a Push element, set Time to live in Delivery settings. See Push element.
Set Time to live via API
In the Messaging API v2, add time_to_live as a duration string in each platform block, for example:
"android": { "time_to_live": "86400s" },
"ios": { "time_to_live": "86400s" }
See the payload reference for all platforms.
If you still use the legacy /createMessage method of the Messages API (deprecated), TTL is set per platform in seconds, for example "ios_ttl": 86400, "android_gcm_ttl": 86400, "chrome_gcm_ttl": 86400, "safari_ttl": 86400.
