You can cancel a push notification as long as it hasn't been sent yet. Once a message has been delivered to devices, it can't be recalled.
Cancel in the Control Panel
- Open Message History, or go to Campaigns → One-time messages.
- Find the message with the Scheduled status.
- Open the actions menu (⋮) for the message and choose Delete message.
The message status changes to Canceled. If you only need to change the text or audience, choose Edit message instead. The send time can't be edited: to change it, delete the message and create a new one. See Edit or cancel scheduled one-time messages.
Cancel via API
-
Messaging API v2
cancelor/cancelMessage: stops a message in thepending, waiting, orprocessingstatus. The message stays in Message History ascanceled. -
/deleteMessage: cancels a scheduled message and removes it from Message History.
Both methods take the message code returned when the message was created.
Good to know
- If a message is already
processing, cancelling stops only the deliveries that haven't gone out yet. - Calling
/deleteMessageon a message that has already been sent deletes the message and its statistics permanently, but it doesn't remove notifications that users have already received. - Follow-up sends created with Resend to non-openers are not affected by
/deleteMessage. Delete them separately (/cancelMessagecancels them together with the original).
