Wallet passes are loyalty cards, coupons, event tickets, and boarding passes that users keep in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. You design them in the Control Panel and update them later without asking users to add the pass again.
Before you start, your developer team connects Apple Wallet (a pass signing certificate uploaded with SET UP PASSKIT in the iOS row of Configure platforms) and/or Google Wallet (Issuer ID) once per application.
To issue a single pass:
- Design it in the Apple Wallet or Google Wallet pass builder and check the live preview.
- Click Generate.
- Go to Campaigns → Wallet Passes, open All passes, find the pass, and open its actions menu (⋮).
- Click Copy install link, or click QR code to show a code users can scan.
- Send the link by email (as a button or text link), push (as the open action), or SMS.
When a user adds the pass, the device registers for updates. Edit the pass in All passes or through the API, and Pushwoosh delivers the change to every device that added it.
Things to know:
- One Apple Wallet install link works for one pass. To give each recipient their own pass, issue passes from a Wallet Pass Campaign or generate them with the PassKit API.
- With a campaign, you design the pass once and edit shared fields in one place to update every issued pass.
- Apple Wallet passes install on iPhone and Apple Watch only.
