You can send Facebook Messenger messages from your Facebook Page through Customer Journeys, one-time messages, or Messaging API v2.
To connect the channel:
- Your developers create a Meta App with the Messenger product, connect it to your Facebook Page, and generate a Page ID and Page Access Token.
- In Pushwoosh, go to Settings → Configure platforms. Under Messengers, click Connect on Facebook Messenger, enter the Page ID and Page Access Token, and click Apply.
- In the Meta App dashboard, set the Pushwoosh webhook URL on the Messenger > Settings page and subscribe the webhook to the same Page.
- Get Meta App Review approval. Until Meta approves the Messenger permissions for the Page, the webhook can verify, but messages won't go through.
When someone messages your Page, Pushwoosh logs PW_FBMessengerReceived and PW_FBMessengerStarted events. Use them as Trigger-based Entry events to start a journey that replies.
Things to know:
- After a user messages your Page, you can send free-form content for 24 hours.
- Outside that window, choose a Message tag that matches Meta's approved use case, for example POST_PURCHASE_UPDATE or CONFIRMED_EVENT_UPDATE. Without it, Meta rejects the send and Pushwoosh shows Meta's error.
- You can't confirm that one specific Messenger message was read.
