In a WhatsApp journey step with custom content, enter a public HTTPS link to the file in the Media field, or click the attachment icon next to it to choose a file from your media storage. Pushwoosh detects the media type from the file extension:
| Type | Formats | Max size |
|---|---|---|
| Image | JPEG, PNG | 5 MB |
| Video | MP4, 3GPP (H.264 video, AAC audio) | 16 MB |
| Document | PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TXT | 100 MB |
Things to know:
- WhatsApp downloads the file from the link itself. If the link isn't public or the file doesn't meet these requirements, WhatsApp won't send the message.
- With media attached, the message text is sent as its caption and can't exceed 1024 characters.
- Custom content can only be sent within 24 hours after the user wrote to you. To start a conversation, use an approved Message Template.
- If you use a Meta template that includes media, the file isn't stored in the template. Enter the actual file URL in the Image field of the step, or the message won't be sent.
