Why does the unsubscribe link now open a confirmation page?

The unsubscribe flow now shows a Confirmation page before the unsubscribe is applied, so subscribers who click Unsubscribe by accident stay subscribed. Nothing changes until the user clicks the confirm button. This step is on by default.

To change it, go to Settings → Preference Center → Subscription pages → Unsubscribe flow:

• Confirm before unsubscribing turns the confirmation page on or off.
• Unsubscribe reason survey (off by default) asks why the user left, after the unsubscribe is applied. Answers are saved to the Unsubscribe Reason string tag, which you can use in segments. Click View stats on the Survey tile to see them.

Other details:

• With the preference center on, the link unsubscribes the user only from the category of that email (for example, Newsletter). With it off, the user is opted out of all marketing emails.
• If the unsubscribe link has a redirect URL, users skip these pages: they are unsubscribed right after the click and taken to your website.
• The text and design of every page can be changed in Customize subscription pages.
