When a recipient's mail server returns a hard bounce error (such as 550 5.1.10 RecipientNotFound), the system automatically adds that address to the internal bounced list to protect your sender reputation, and the address is excluded from your subscriber base.
If you know the address is now active and the bounce happened because of a temporary issue, you can ask to have it removed.
To request removal, contact support with:
- The affected email address
- Your application code
Before you contact support, make sure the recipient's mail server is working. If you send another email to this address and it bounces again, the system automatically puts it back on the bounced list. We recommend sending a single test message after removal to make sure it goes through.
You can also pull the current list of bounced addresses yourself with the /getBouncedEmails API method, and remove an address from your base entirely with /deleteEmail.
