A processor decline indicates that your bank has refused the transaction request. There are two types of declines: hard and soft declines. The type of decline informs how you should handle it.
Hard declines are the result of an error or issue which can't be resolved immediately. Contact your bank to resolve the issue before retrying the transaction.
Soft declines are the result of a temporary issue. Retrying the provided payment method information may be successful.
The most common reasons for declines are:
- Incorrect credit card number or expiration date
- Insufficient funds
- The bank declined based on location
- The bank's fraud rules blocked the transaction
Authorization decline codes
|2004||Expired Card||Card is expired. Please try to use another payment method||Hard|
|2005||Invalid Credit Card Number||Most probably, you've entered an invalid payment method info. Please review the payment information. If all is correct, our system will attempt the transaction again. If decline persists, please contact your bank.||Hard|
|2010||Card Issuer Declined CVV||The invalid security code has been entered, or there is a type in card info. Please re-enter the info, our system will attempt the transaction automatically. In case decline persists - please contact your bank.||Hard|
|2015||Transaction Not Allowed||The bank is declining the transaction for unspecified reasons, possibly due to an issue with the card itself. Please contact your bank or try another payment method.||Hard|
|2038||Processor Declined||The bank is unwilling to accept the transaction. The reasons for this response can vary – please contact your bank for more information.||Soft|
|2046||Declined||The bank is unwilling to accept the transaction. For credit/debit card transactions, please contact your bank for more details regarding this generic decline; if this is a PayPal transaction, please contact PayPal.||Soft|
|2070||PayPal Buyer Revoked Pre-Approved Payment Authorization||You revoked authorization for this payment method. Please contact our Support Team via this Form or email@example.com||Hard|
