Question: How can I check the device count on my account, and does it affect my plan?
Answer: Device counts are shown at the top left of the Pushwoosh Control Panel, next to your project name.
- The left-hand number (Push Enabled) is the number of devices that currently hold a valid push token and can actually receive push notifications.
- The right-hand number (Total Devices) is the number of devices registered with Pushwoosh that were active within the last 90 days. It is not a lifetime total: devices that stop being active drop out of this count. The 90-day window is configurable — contact your Customer Success Manager if you need a different period.
Your plan usage is shown in My account > Billing > Overview, in the Usage block: it reports monthly active users and email sends for the current billing period. Pushwoosh plans are priced per monthly active user (MAU), not per registered device, and there is no device limit: the project is free within 1,000 MAU, and above that you pay as you go per 1,000 MAU. A user counts toward MAU if they received a message on any channel during the month, deduplicated by User ID. See the pricing page for current rates.
Inactive devices
Pushwoosh automatically cleans up inactive subscribers: if a user has not opened the app for 90 days or more, the push token is marked inactive and removed from the subscriber base. This is enabled by default for all accounts created on or after 1 January 2024. If your account is older, contact Pushwoosh Support to check whether it is active on yours and to request activation. You can also remove devices yourself by segmenting on last app open and calling /bulkUnregisterDevice from the Audience API.
If such a user opens the app again and allows notifications, the device becomes an active subscriber once more.
