User data is stored as long as a user's device is considered active and has a valid push token.
-
Inactive Status: With autovalidation enabled, a device is marked as inactive if the user has not opened the app for 90 consecutive days or more. Pushwoosh determines this from the default
Last Application Opentag. - Is it on for my account? Autovalidation is enabled by default for all accounts created on or after 1 January 2024. For older accounts it is not automatic — contact Pushwoosh Support to check the status or to request activation.
- Data Deletion: Once a device is marked as inactive, its push token is removed from your subscriber base and the data associated with that specific device is deleted from our system.
-
UserID Deletion: If the inactive device was the last one associated with a specific
UserID, thatUserIDand its related data are removed as well. - Event history: Event data has its own retention window — Pushwoosh stores each user's events log for up to one year. Longer storage can be arranged with Pushwoosh Sales.
Invalid tokens are also removed independently of inactivity: Pushwoosh drops a token as soon as a send-out to it fails with a permanent gateway error, and Uninstall Tracking detects uninstalls via a daily silent push.
