When creating a segment for users who haven't opened your app recently, you might find that the number of email users is much lower than expected. This often happens because activity data, such as the Last Application Open tag, is associated with a user's device, not directly with their email profile.
To correctly build a segment of inactive users that includes their email addresses, follow these steps:
- In your dashboard, go to the segment builder.
- Set up a condition using the Last Application Open tag. For example, to find users who have been inactive for 30 days or more, set the condition to:
Last Application Open ≥ 30 days ago - Enable the “Include all user’s devices” option. This is the key step.
By checking this box, the system will first identify all devices that match your inactivity criteria. It will then pull in all associated channels for the users of those devices, including their email addresses, into the final segment. This allows you to accurately target inactive app users for re-engagement campaigns via email.
