There are a few ways to target your specific device for testing, depending on your technical comfort level.
Method 1: Add a Test Device (Technical)
This is the most precise method but requires getting your device's Hardware ID (HWID).
- Obtain your device's HWID. You can find instructions on how to get this from your device's console logs in our documentation.
- In your Pushwoosh Control Panel, navigate to the Test Devices section.
- Add your device by entering its HWID.
- Once added, you can select your device from the Test Devices list when sending a push to test it.
Another option for developers is to implement QR code scanning within the app to register test devices automatically.
Method 2: Create a Highly-Specific Segment (Non-Technical)
If you cannot easily get your device's HWID, you can create a user segment that is so specific it only contains your device.
- In your Pushwoosh Control Panel, go to Segments and create a new segment.
- Use the Segment Builder to add several filter conditions based on what you know about your device and its usage.
- Combine filters to narrow down the audience. Good examples include:
- City (e.g., the city you are currently in)
- Device Model (e.g., iPhone 14 Pro)
- Language (e.g., English)
- Last Application Open (e.g., within the last hour)
- Save the segment. When you send your push notification, choose this segment as your audience.
