You can add specific devices to a 'Test Devices' list to send test notifications before launching a campaign to your entire audience. This requires some initial setup, which may need assistance from your app developer. There are three ways to add a push test device:
1. Automatic Method (Recommended)
Your developer can implement a special Deep Link within your app. Once this is configured, you can simply scan a QR code from the Pushwoosh Control Panel to automatically register your device as a test device. This is a one-time setup that allows non-technical team members to easily add their own devices in the future.
- For developer instructions, please see our documentation: Adding Test Devices Automatically
2. Registering from the app
In the Test Devices section, turn on Add test devices from the app in the page header. This opens a registration window for 1 hour. While it is open, send the app to the background and bring it back to the foreground 6 times within 30 seconds — the device appears in the Test Devices list with no scanning or manual entry. The setting is per application.
3. Manual Method
Your developer can retrieve the unique Hardware ID (HWID) from a specific device. You can then manually add this HWID via Create test device → Push in the Pushwoosh Control Panel.
- Note: This process needs to be repeated for every new device you wish to add.
- For instructions on finding a device's HWID, please see our documentation: Collecting Device Identifiers
